Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd: The Evil Barber of Fleet Street is a 2007 musical horror film directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd). Starring Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Lovett), Alan Rickman (Judge Turpin), Timothy Spall (Beadle) and Sacha Baron Cohen (Signor Adolfo Pirelli), the film tells the revenge story of Sweeney Todd, who is imprisoned and exiled for an unjust accusation. For Sweeney Todd, a barber with a happy and ordinary life with his family, nothing will ever be the same after he returns from prison. Mrs. Lovett will be by his side as the evil barber turns into a ruthless executioner.

Whether the story is true or inspired by someone is still debated. Some critics claim that in the 70s, a barber named Todd brutally murdered his customers and this is where the movie originated from. Whether true or not, we think the possibility of this is a factor in making the movie more horrifying. In addition, the outfits worn by the characters are very striking.

We highly recommend you to watch this movie with its dark atmosphere and dramatic story. It won Johnny Depp the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain and also won the Oscar for Best Production Design. Although it is a musical, we are sure that you will like this movie, which does not give the impression that it is a musical and is very fluent.
